Program

Topics will include the analysis of multiparticle Schrödinger operators, stability of matter, relativity theory, geometric analysis, fluid dynamics, spectral and scattering theory including inverse problems, as well as related topics.

History

The conference was held five times at UAB starting in 1981. Since 1992 the conference is a joint venture with our colleagues at Georgia Tech in Atlanta, with the site of the conference alternating between Birmingham and Atlanta where it took place twice.

Participants should make their own reservations, indicating that they are attending the 1999 UAB-GIT International Conference on Mathematical Physics and Differential Equations. Social Activities

  • There will be a reception with heavy hors d'oeuvres (including wine and beer) on Wednesday, March 17, in the lobby of the Alys Robinson Stephens Center. Preceding the reception, Delores Hodgens and Samuel Howard, Artists In-Residence at UAB, will perform a duo piano recital.  On the program, works by Schubert, Rachmaninoff, and Ravel.  There is an extra fee of $20 for the reception. 
  • There will be a southern style BBQ on Friday, March 19. 
  • There will be informal gatherings with complimentary local beer, crackers and cheese, on the evenings of March 15, 16, 18, 20.
