EAR II (Extending Algebraic Reasoning II)

In EAR II (Extending Algebraic Reasoning II), participants will extend and build on concepts developed in the Patterns I, Patterns II, Numerical Reasoning, Geometry, Probability, and EAR I courses.  The focus of EAR II is on functions as mathematical models.  Participants will:

  •       Analyze data using regression techniques;

  •       Continue to develop and expand a toolbox of functions including   linear, quadratic, exponential, and power functions; and

  •       Investigate transformations of functions.

Emphasis on the Rule of Four (verbal, symbolic, numerical, and geometric or graphic representations of functions) will continue to be a foundation in the EAR II course.   The TI-84 and the CBL will be used as tools to gain mathematical insight, collect data, and explore phenomena.
